Ways to Look Younger

March 9th, 2012

When you are young, you want everyone to think that you seem older than you actually are. Twelve-year-olds want to seem fifteen, fifteen-year-olds want to seem eighteen, eighteen-year-olds want to seem twenty-one, and so on.

However, not long after our adolescent years, there is a shift where you start wanting the opposite—you do not want anyone to think you look older than you are. You do not even want people to think that you look your age.

Luckily, there are things that you can do to fool people into thinking you are much younger than you actually are.

Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Sun exposure leads to wrinkles, saggy skin, brown spots, and fine lines. Even though most people are well aware of this, they constantly ignore the facts, sacrificing their skin so they can get a tan.

Do not worry, though—protecting your skin from the sun does not mean the you have to stay inside! You just need to make sure to wear sunscreen and buy facial products that offer UV ray protection.

You do not even need to forego that summer glow—let bronzing makeup or sunless tanning cream take the place of a splotchy, peeling sunburn. That burn might not even turn into a tan anyway.

Go Antioxidant Crazy

Antioxidants are vital to your skin’s youth. Free radicals floating around in the air wreak havoc on your skin every day, causing sun damage, wrinkles, and in extreme yet sadly common cases, skin cancer. Antioxidants help by neutralizing those free radicals and guarding your skin from them.

You can reap the benefits of antioxidants by eating foods seeped in them, such as pomegranates, berries, asparagus, citrus, and truly most fruits and vegetables. You can also look for skin products that contain antioxidant-rich ingredients, like Vitamins C & E and Green Tea.

Surrounding yourself with antioxidants will make your face look smoother, more even, and younger!

Invest in an Eye Cream

ways to look youngerEye creams are essential to making you look younger. They moisturize your skin and get rid of the lines around your eyes that add years that you do not have. It is important to find an eye cream that is rich in peptides that will boost your skin’s collagen production.

One such eye cream is Oxytokin, which contains all the peptides your skin needs to get rid of wrinkles, bags, dark under eye circles, and fine lines, making you look ten to fifteen years younger. Learn more about Oxytokin!

Get More Sleep

Everyone looks older when they look tired: your eyes get puffy, red, and baggy. So go to bed earlier and get more sleep!

You can fall asleep faster if you really try to wind down before going to bed. Keep your pre-bedtime activities relatively calm and quiet, and try not to do too much on the computer—those bright lights so close to your face can make it harder to fall asleep.

If you get more sleep, you will look well-rested and thus younger—not to mention that you will feel and act more rejuvenated with all that extra energy.

Younger Looking Skin is Possible!

Looking younger is a possibility; you just have to know what to do. So take these tips and use them to fool everyone into thinking that you lost ten years overnight!

Superfoods Anti-Aging Benefits

September 30th, 2009

I’ve seen all the claims.  They talk about how the superfood anti aging benefits are so amazing.  After all, you can look 10 years younger in just 10 days according to some advertisements.  Wouldn’t that be amazing right?  But anyway, the question remains, is it actually true?  Can you eliminate 10 years of aging in just 10 days?

Many would legitimately look at this question and laugh.  I know I did.  What can I say, I’m ultimately a cynic.  This being said, if you look into the superfoods, they are filled with all the right nutrients, all the right antioxidants, all the right things that your skin actually needs.  This in mind, amazingly enough, you could achieve superfoods anti-aging benefits.  I know, it sounds crazy, I still think it sounds crazy to be honest, and I’m the one writing this.  But realistically speaking, I mean it’s possible.

With all the nutrients found in the superfoods, and for that matter all the antioxidants, you could potentially achieve superfoods anti-aging benefits.  It’s not just that.  There are various things you will only find in the superfoods.  So I don’t know about 10 years in 10 days.  But various related benefits are certainly possible.  I definitely wouldn’t necessarily count it out all things considered, because quite frankly speaking, it’s not worth counting out.  There are still benefits of superfoods being discovered every day.

Cucumbers In Facials

September 24th, 2009

If you’ve ever seen typical movies and all that, they tend to have facials where they put cucumbers over the eyes, and actually typically in some professional facials, they do this.  They put cucumbers over the eyes, it looks a little freaky, but whatever right.  Anyway, this being said, cucumbers are largely made of water.  Water is good for you.  It flushes out your system, it keeps your skin moisturized, it reduces inflammation, you get the basic idea.

Naturally moisturizing the skin alone will naturally reduce the occurrence of fine lines and wrinkles.  But this being said, cucumbers are also packed with other nutrients.  Therefore, they are naturally able to actually reduce puffy, swollen eyes as well as the dark circles you may end up suffering from.  So it’s not just for looks or just for presentation.  When you use cucumbers like that, you are actually ending up doing something for yourself.  The fact that it’s high in antioxidants certainly doesn’t hurt anything as antioxidants kill off free radicals and reduce cellular damage among other things.  And by the way, implementing cucumbers into your diet is also not a bad thing at all.  It’s definitely something you should actually do.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids

September 23rd, 2009

Alpha Hyroxy Acids are one of those wrinkle cures that they base around the idea that old royalty such as Cleopatra used them.  They have this idea that because Cleopatra used it in baths just like she used gold supposedly it must be effective.  Granted, gold is rather effective.  But that doesn’t really pertain to the origins of the thing.  Basically speaking, Cleopatra was said to bathe in sour milk, and some of us have bathed in fresh milk more since.

This being said, alpha hydroxy acids can now be found in various creams, supplements, and otherwise toners, masks, and scrubs.  Basically speaking, AHA’s can be broken down under different names such as glycolic acid, malic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, and tartaric acid.  These ingredients naturally exfoliate the skin, wiping away dead skin cells, and they are generally used in small concentrations.  With larger concentrations, they actually cause damage and have to be neutralized.  But they say it allows your skin to produce more collagen and elastin and otherwise unclog the pores.  Now they definitely throw off your pH balance and really cause redness, irritation, dryness, and otherwise.  But I’m not entirely sure of the results at this point in time.

Derma Roller Therapy

September 23rd, 2009

Basically speaking, when you get a Derma Roller, you get a bunch of needles on a handle.  There are 192 needles in total, and it’s supposed to actually eliminate stretch marks, scars, and wrinkles.  Scary thought right, 192 needles running across your skin, are they sanitary?  But apparently, they don’t actually get to the deep layers of the skin.  They only barely pierce the epidermis, which would imply it doesn’t cause bleeding, just a sort of scratched look on the surface.

It apparently puts tiny little dots in the skin that are actually too small for the human eye to see, so theoretically it won’t be visible.  Then your skin works to repair itself, it seems a bit like laser therapy in that way.  Anyway, it then pushes new cells to the surface and repairs damaged skin in general.  They also claim that it helps your skin to better absorb the skincare products you are already using.  This I’ve definitely heard before from those products that claim to send negative and positive charges through your skin.  Basically, they are saying that it’s your other products doing all the work without actually saying it.  With all things considered, I am skeptical to say the least about Derma Rollers.  But at the very least, they’re interesting.

Anti-Aging Benefits Of Chocolate

September 22nd, 2009

For some reason, even when young, I never liked chocolate.  At Halloween, everybody would want to go to the rich houses and rich neighborhoods, because they would give away these huge candybars, and I would end up trading mine for whatever other candy I wanted.  I had leverage nobody else had because I didn’t want the chocolate.  This being said, there are plenty of people who just love chocolate.  You can’t count on the regular chocolate you buy at the store to give you the benefits you think about.  Frankly, that’s too sugared down, and it’s basically not even really chocolate.

But when they talk about all the potential benefits, they are talking about the chocolate bean, which definitely doesn’t taste the same at all.  This being said, they say that chocolate, the chocolate beans are actually high in anti aging benefits and antioxidants for that matter. It is of course known for its mood lifting benefits.  But realistically speaking, chocolate fights against many of the signs of aging.  It fights against wrinkles by killing off free radicals with the antioxidants found in there.  But it also fights against high blood pressure in many cases while actively reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke as well.  Likewise, it works of course as a natural antidepressant and prevents certain diseases.  The chocolate bean is definitely something to check out.

Dealing With Dry Skin

September 19th, 2009

Dry skin is one thing that has never really plagued me.  I have always had super oily skin, even when using something drying like alcohol.  But this being said, my sister for some reason really got the dry skin gene or something.  Despite what you may think, it actually makes acne worse sometimes, it definitely makes wrinkles appear sooner and more prevalently, and for that reason among others, there have been hundreds of moisturizers to hit the market.

I prefer the light ones, water based usually.  But I haven’t yet been able to convince my sister that those moisturizers could work just as well if not better than the ones she uses that really never do the job anyway quite right, and they are really thick.  She thinks she hasn’t found anything thick enough.  But frankly, one of the biggest thing when you have dry skin, which again defies logic for my sister, is to take a multivitamin.  Your skin is expressing some problem within the body, accommodate it.  Seaweed can also be a really good food to eat.  But in terms of actual moisturizers, even with super dry skin, water based moisturizers can surprise you in their effectiveness, especially without clogging pores.

Shiseido Products

September 17th, 2009

Shiseido Products
I’ve looked into Shiseido products. In the past, it has been one of my favorite brands, just because unlike Clinique for example, it doesn’t actually irritate my skin. I know, it’s not the best way to choose any given product, I’ve already considered this fact a few times over to say the least. This being said, it didn’t really dry out my skin, but when using Shiseido products a few years ago, I was still breaking out in acne, my skin was still dull, and frankly it was one of those bandaid things that only ever went about half way anyway.

This being said, I’ve never actually been able to find an ingredients list for Shiseido, and I did email them, because I have sensitive skin anyway. I got an answer back saying that I should look at the package. It wasn’t highly hospitable to say the least, and well it’s not listed on the boxes I found anyway, so not great. I guess I just got a really pissed off customer service agent. This being said, the fact is that it doesn’t really have anything. I mean the honest truth is that products that are better tend to post their ingredients somewhere so that you can actually find them. So it’s really one of those simple things of life.

Bleaching The Skin

September 11th, 2009

This is really big in some countries to say the least, the idea that you should actively whiten your skin.  Some people believe obviously that whitening the skin serves as a greater sign of youth, vitality, luxury in some ways, and so they always stay out of the sun and such.  Staying out of the sun is a good thing.  Staying out of the sun helps to prevent sun damage that would break down the skin, and they are also in general really good about putting sunscreen on.

In the United States, it’s not the best thing to be pale.  But that’s basically the only country in the world where this mentality is considered.  We only use bleaches for dark spots.  This being said, you should never use a bleach on your skin at all.  Yes, your skin will be whiter.  But frankly, it is like the sun in the fact that it will break down your skin cells and otherwise cause greater damage that in some ways cannot be repaired.  It will age you faster, possibly cause skin cancer problems in the future, and otherwise you will really not benefit from using any kind of bleach on your skin.

Gold As An Anti-Aging Formula

September 9th, 2009

gold-the-fountain-of-youth
Gold, it has been the envy of many and the pleasure of few.  It has always been considered a luxurious and rare substance, even as far back as Cleopatra’s days.  In fact, it is rumored that she and many Chinese empresses actually used it as a bath to keep their skin young and be a sort of fountain of youth.  Since then, some celebrities have used it as a major component of their face creams, and only recently has science really backed them up.

Science has recently shown that if you use gold properly, it actually works as a powerful antioxidant, and this means that it can protect your skin from serious damage by basically killing off free radicals that would increase and encourage premature aging.  But unlike others, gold is actually capable of helping your skin to promote the growth of more collagen.  This would make it in some ways the proverbial fountain of youth just as they say and just as they have used it for.

It’s expensive still the same, but now while many thought that silver was actually the more valuable element before, gold has obviously proven itself to be more valuable than originally thought.
